Lorie Forbes - Ministry Assistant / Church Clerk

  • Lorie joined the staff in February 2009. She’s lived most of her life in Abernathy marrying her high school sweetheart and raising two sons. She joined FBC Abernathy in 2000, after losing a son to suicide from bi-polar manic depression and has been involved in many women’s Bible studies and teaches a women’s Sunday school class. “I didn’t know the true meaning of a servant of God until this church family wrapped their arms around me and ministered to me during the worst time of my life,” Lorie said. Lorie truly felt the Lord placed her here when the staff position became vacant. She takes care of the office responsibilities and is the assistant church treasurer. Family is very important to her and nothing gives her more joy than being called “MawMaw.”

Mike O'Donnell - Pastor

  • Mike began serving as pastor in 2007. Mike has the distinction of serving FBC Abernathy two different times in his life. He first served this church as Minister of Music and Youth in the 1970’s and now as pastor. He has been in full time ministry since 1976 where he has served various churches in Texas and Kansas. Most of his ministry has been with churches in Kansas where he served as Minister of Music and Youth and also as the Youth Evangelism Director for the Kansas/Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptist where he was commissioned a North American Missionary by the North American Mission Board. Mike attended Oklahoma Baptist University and Wayland Baptist University. He is married to Pam and they have two children Aaron and Alyson. Mike has many hobbies which he enjoys, especially cooking, entertaining and supporting the Abernathy Antelopes. He also enjoys playing the piano and more importantly he loves to watch the Kansas State Wildcats and wear purple with pride.

Aaron Bishop - Youth Pastor

  • Aaron is the newest member to the FBC family and is the youth minister and is also part of the media/technology team. Aaron graduated from Calvary Chapel Bible College with an associate of applied science in biblical studies. Aaron enjoys collecting and playing retro video games with tetris being his favorite one. His other hobbies include reading, skateboarding, fixing broken technology and graphic design.
