My name is Damon Pearce and I am so happy to be serving as the new pastor at Abernathy’s First Baptist Church. My wife Bonnie and I moved in June from Clovis, New Mexico where I served for almost 11 years as the Worship Pastor at Central Baptist Church. I was born in Lamesa, Texas, and graduated from Texas Tech in 1986. I worked as a newspaper editor for several years before I surrendered to God’s call to ministry. I graduated from Houston Baptist University with a degree in music, and from Wayland Baptist University with Master’s degrees in Christian Ministry and Divinity. I have served with five Baptist congregations since 1989 before coming to Abernathy. Bonnie and I have three daughters. Our oldest, Meghan lives in Clovis with her husband Chris and their son Lincoln. My daughter Emily is a zookeeper at the Abilene Zoo, and Erin is in her last years of studying Music Performance at Wayland in Plainview. God has drawn my focus in ministry from two key passages of Scripture, the “Greats” of God’s Word - the Greatest Commandment and the Great Commission: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:37-40) “All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:18-20) From these two passage of Scripture I have developed a three-fold focus for ministry:

• Love God.
• Love People.
• Tell the World.

We are excited to serve with the wonderful people of Abernathy’s First Baptist Church on the mission to love God through worship and prayer, love people through evangelism and discipleship, and tell the world through missions from Abernathy to the ends of the earth.

My name is Bryson Riley, and I am so excited to be serving this community as Family Pastor. I am from the Lubbock area, and graduated from Wayland Baptist University with a Bachelor in Music Education, and am currently pursuing a Master of Divinity from WBU. I married my best friend, Tobie Riley, in July of 2021, and we currently have our first child on the way, due May of 2023! We both believe that every student is destined for greatness through God, in whatever career or hobbies they pursue, and we both look forward to what God has in store for each of them.
